He has the power!

Kevin Smith is bringing back the hero of the 80’s as an animated Netflix series set to premiere July 23,and taking a cue from anime, it will be presented in two parts. Masters of the Universe: Revelation will see the return of the buff blonde Prince Adam, picking up where the original series left off, so original fans will have new stories to look forward to, stories that are promised to be richer and more meaningful, fleshing out the characters further while still retaining the essence that sparked hope in the viewers as He-Man battled against all odds to protect his home and friends.

The animation style certainly supports this new approach. The character design comes from the company that brought us Castlevania, Powerhouse Animation. They live up to their name in bringing to life again the powerhouse He-Man and his friends and foes alike. The designs add depth to the characters larger-than-life presence.

The casting reads like a Who’s Who of fandoms. Supergirl‘s Chris Woods voices Prince Adam/He-Man while his nemesis Skeletor is none other than the Joker/Jedi himself, Mark Hamill!

The other casting decisions are no less exciting. Lean Heady (Game of Thrones) is Evil-Lyn, Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) is Teela, Alicia Silverstone (Batgirl from Batman and Robin), and Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy voices Mer-Man. Old school fans will be delighted to know that Alan Oppenheimer, the original Skeletor, will be back too in the role of Moss Man.

The rest of the main characters are Liam Cunningham (Man-at-Arms), Griffin Newman (Orco), Stephen Root (Cringer), Diedrich Bader (King Randor and Trap Jaw), Tiffany Smith (Andra), Henry Rollins (Tri-Klops), Susan Eisenberg (Sorceress), Jason Mewes (Stinkor), Phil LaMarr (He-Ro), Tony Todd (Scare Glow), Cree Summer (Priestess), and Kevin Michael Richardson (Beast Man).

Revelation begins where the iconic series left off, but Smith says to be prepared because about halfway through the first episode things will take off allowing for the characters to grow and be challenged in ways they have never dealt with previously. The whole work is a labor of love which will be told in two acts, hence Netflix’s release will consist of two parts.

So get ready, by the power of Grayskull, he’s on his way!

Masters of the Universe: Revelations makes its Netflix debut on July 23, 2021.
