Daniel Gianola-Norris teaches trumpet at Sonoma State University in California. He is also a massive Star Trek fan, and he put together this amazing rendition of the theme to Star Trek: The Next Generation using nothing but brass instruments – specifically trumpet, euphonium, a B-flat pocket trumpet and what we think is a flugelhorn.

This theme was written and arranged to feature the horn section to start with, so this is a natural fit for an all-brass cover.

Pause the SCIFI.radio stream using the controller at the upper right before you watch this. If you’re on mobile, the controller is at the bottom of the page. Yes, we know that’s still weird. We’re working on it.

Oh, and that guy in the red shirt? Keep an eye on him.

And yes, you can hear this cut on SCIFI.radio as part of our regular Star Trek playlist. I mean, what self-respecting sci-fi radio station wouldn’t want this in their library?

Thank you, Daniel, for this moment of pure joy.
