If the Full-Time Creative Work on a Part-Time Schedule panel is for any group with a goal, then this Importance of Online Branding and Professionalism is for anyone with a goal. It can be argued that online branding and acting professionally are as important as the actual work itself you do. It certainly is what helps you move to the next project or get people to notice your current one.

Online branding is a collection of tools to get the good kind of attention focused on you and your projects. Knowing the most effective use of the platforms, websites, and tips on how to use the internet is often as important as the work itself.

Professionalism is key as well – there is almost nothing a creative can do on their own, and knowing how to conduct business in a professional manner not only helps keep your project on track, but is one of the few things that will affect your career years or even decades later.

The panel roster is stacked with people with a large amount of experience on either topic. In all cases, it is part of their career, and in some cases, it’s part of their higher degrees. The general wisdom and specific knowledge the people on the panel have is enough that each person could have their own panel to talk about online branding and professionalism. Cumulatively the information is quite valuable.

The panelists are:

  • Moderator Ron Coleman Ph.D. (molecular geneticist and comic book writer)
  • Gene Turnbow (founder/station manager SCIFI.radio, editor-in-chief Helium Beach Press – scifi.radio & heliumbeach.com)
  • Dr. Renah Wolzinger (owner Renzone Music, ed tech manager, digital media faculty – www.Renah.com)
  • June Bayha (CEO Bayha Group – www.BayhaGroup.com)
  • Sean Glumace (Adobe education leader, comic book letterer – Glumace.com)
  • Topher Davila (art director, GeekdomWear.com, writer, TheComicsJunky.com – starting July 2020

This panel is an offshoot of the Full-Time Creative Work on a Part-Time Schedule panel. For over a decade that panel at San Diego Comic-Con and Wondercon Con for 7 years has had a lot of questions that technically don’t have to do with that panel’s topic, but year over year they keep being asked. With such a long history of questions about Online Branding and professionalism, we did this panel to address those topics as there seems to be an interest in them.

We hope you find this panel useful and edifying, and we hope we’ll be able to present it to you in person at Wondercon 2021.

In the meantime, the coronavirus is still a major problem for modern civilization. Don’t become a statistic – stay home if you can, but above all, stay safe. And of course, SCIFI.radio has always been a safe haven for those of the geeky persuasion. We’re here for you.
