The third movie in the Spongebob franchise based on the popular Nickolodean TV series, this one is the first to be fully CG animated. It looks like the same crazy style of animation used in the traditional 2d animation used in the television series, but what’s relatively easy to draw on an animation cel can be insanely hard to recreate in 3d. The animation team at Paramount Animation has really pulled off a fricking miracle making Spongebob and his friends do all the crazy moves you seen just in this trailer alone. If the entire movie is this good, they deserve an Oscar and/or a BAFTA Award for their technical achievement if nothing else.
Spongebob Squarepants: Sponge on the Run stars Tom Kenny as the voice of Spongebob Squarepants, Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick Star, Roger Bumpass as Squidward, and Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy Cheeks (and Keanu Reeves as Sage).
It premieres May 22, 2020.
