I think we can all agree that Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was steampunk FA. It lacked the grittiness of the goth color scheme used by modern steampunks, but the car itself was the definition of the spirit of steampunk.

Abney Park, arguably one of the greatest steampunk bands on the planet, noticed it too. Today they have released a brand new single, and it’s a cover of the classic song from the film.

Here’s the music video for it. Be sure to pause the SCIFI.radio player while you listen. You’ll want to get as clean an audio experience as possible.

The original film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was released in 1968, and the song itself was written by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman. This new cover of the tune was done as part of their monthly efforts to cover new songs in their own inimitable style.

Every month Abney Park covers classic, and sometimes ancient songs like this one for their fans on Patreon, who get to download all these new songs, for free. If you join up today, you can download this song as a Wav, MP3, or FLAC!

And of course, you can hear this tune on SCIFI.radio during our regular broadcast day. We hope you enjoy today’s selection.
