The trailer for the second season of the Netflix series Iron Fist is here. While it’s true that season one was very underwhelming, the second season, if this trailer is any indication, just might be giving us the Iron Fist that we were all expecting. The fight scenes, especially, are a huge improvement over season one.

Returning for the second season is Finn Jones as Danny Rand, who along with Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick) are serving as protectors of Chinatown. Danny is feeling the strain of protecting the streets after picking up where Daredevil had left off following the events in The Defenders, being out every night, and rarely sleeping. To make matters even more stressful for Rand, Davos (Sacha Dawan), Danny’s old friend from K’un-L’un, wants the power of the Iron Fist for himself. The trailer shows him with a glowing fist of his own, but what’s not known is if he’s had this prior to the new season, or if he manages to take the power away from Danny.

Other familiar faces that are returning this season are Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum and Jessica Stroup as his sister, Joy, who is helping Davos and holds Danny responsible for the death of her father. Not returning to season two is Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, however, Simone Missick will be appearing as Misty Knight. New to the cast is Alice Eve who will be playing the role of “Typhoid Mary” Walker. In the comics, Typhoid Mary had advanced martial arts abilities, as well as the power of telekinesis and pyrokinesis. And, whether it becomes a part of Iron Fist’s look at the end of the season or not, we get a glimpse of the iconic Iron Fist mask.

During last month’s panel at the San Diego Comic Con, Jeph Loeb, Executive Vice President of Marvel Television, stated that the show was going to up the game when it came to the fight choreography, which is being choreographed by Clayton Barber, who has both Creed and Black Panther to his resume. Also season one’s show runner, Scott Buck, has been replaced this season by former Sleepy Hollow executive, Raven Metzner.

Our wait in seeing if this new season is everything the trailer is making out it out to be won’t be too much longer, as Netflix will be releasing all episodes of season two on September 7. And we might get all Defenders this year, as it was reported that season three of Daredevil is slated to be released later in 2018.

Let the binge watching preparations commence.
