The Librarians is a spin-off of a series of movies starring Noah Wyle (Tom Mason of Falling Skies) as Dr. Flynn Carsen.  Dr Carsen was the Librarian, the man entrusted to find and protect magical artifacts.  In the show, Jake Stone (Christian Kane: Eliot Spencer in Leverage, Lindsey McDonald in Angel), Cassandra Cillian (Lindy Booth: Claudia in Relic Hunter, Holly Culverson in Odyssey 5), and Ezekiel Jones (John Harlan Kim: Dale McGregor of  Neighbours) are Librarians in Training.  They are protected by Col. Eve Baird (Rebecca Romijn: Mystique in the X-Men movies, Michelle Maxwell in King & Maxwell) and assisted by the immortal Jenkins (John Larroquette:  Maltz in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, Dan Fielding in Night Court).  Col. Baird is the Guardian of the Librarians.  Jenkins is the caretaker of the Library Annex, which is the base of operations for the Librarians in Training.  He used another name centuries ago:  Sir Galahad.

Each season, The Librarians has one main villain, who features in approximately half of the episodes and is (generally) defeated in the season finale.  For the fourth season, TV Insider announced, “they’ll have a new big-bad standing in their path. That baddie is being played by John Noblewho we are sure will please fans after seeing his devilish run on Sleepy Hollow.  Noble plays Monsignor Vega, a Vatican bishop who secretly heads a centuries-old sect called the Heretical Order of the Shadows. This sect aims to return life to the Dark Ages so that religion will have power over the masses once again, but to do that they must destroy the most powerful source of wisdom and enlightenment: The Library.”  In addition to playing Henry Parrish in Sleepy Hollow, John Noble played Denethor in the Lord of the Rings movies and Dr. Walter Bishop on Fringe.

Noah Wyle will return as Flynn Carsen in seven of the twelve episodes of Season 4.

Some people SCIFI.radio fans will know are Jonathan Frakes, who so far has directed nine episodes between 2014 and 2017, and Geoffrey Thorne, who was producer or co-producer for 20 episodes between 2014 and 2015, and wrote four of those episodes.

Season Three of The Librarians is now available on DVD and on Hulu.  Season Four will premiere on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 on TNT at 8:00 Eastern/7:00 Central.
