On this day, 54 years ago, the world was treated to the very first broadcast episode of a brand new TV series on BBC One: Doctor Who. Coincidentally, in the United States, it’s also Thanksgiving Day. With Doctor Who added in, we have a lot to be thankful for.

Tom Baker played the role longer than any other actor, from 1974 to 1981, and for the past five years has played that role again in Big Finish productions of new Doctor Who stories on audio. He recorded a special message to commemorate the day, for all us Whovians!

The Doctor Who Christmas Special, starring Peter Capaldi and David Bradley, airs on Christmas Day (of course) and introduces Jodie Whittaker as the 13th face to the name.

How will you celebrate #DoctorWhoDay?

And of course, be sure and tune in to MarkWHO42 every Wednesday and Friday at 3 am and 4 pm Pacific time right here on SCIFI.radio (as well as being a podcast on iHeartRadio, Spreaker, iTunes and a bunch of other services).

Happy Doctor Who Day! And Happy Thanksgiving!
