Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 has an official name:  Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. In addition to releasing the new name of the film, Warner Bros. also released a cast picture.

Jude Law, on the left, will play young Transfigurations professor Albus Dumbledore.  His clothing tastes were much quieter in his younger days.  The Guardian said Dumbledore “didn’t always boast the wardrobe of a colourful Eastern Orthodox cleric. Our first look at Law reimagines Newt Scamander’s mentor in natty blue corduroy with a neatly trimmed beard and handsome, ornately embroidered leather shoes.”  Despite the fact that Albus Dumbledore had auburn hair in the books (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, page 263), Law has dark hair.

The controversial Johnny Depp, on the right, will play Gellert Grindelwald.  The cast picture shows him holding the infamous Elder Wand: 15 inches long, made of elder wood with a thestral tail hair as its core.  Many fans questioned the casting of Depp in The Crimes of Grindelwald, in part due to some of his more widely publicized foibles; his ex-wife, Amber Heard (Mera in Justice League) has accused him of domestic violence, he has made jokes in dubious taste about the current administration in the U.S., and complained when Australia expected him to obey the same laws as lesser mortals.

As announced in April, Callum Turner will be playing Auror Theseus Scarmander, Newt Scarmander’s war hero brother.  Turner is shown holding the hand of Zoë Kravitz, who plays Leta Lestrange.  The Guardian reported that there will be at least a hint of a love triangle between the Scarmander brothers and Leta.

Eddie Redmayne is reprising his role as Magizoologist Newt Scarmander.  He is shown standing next to Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein.  Next to Gellert Grindelwald are Muggle Jacob Kowalski (obliviated in the first movie), played by Dan Fogler, and Tina’s sister, Queenie Goldstein, played by Alison Sudol.

Between Jude Law and Zoë Kravitz, the cast picture shows Ezra Miller and Claudia Kim.  Miller (the Flash in the new Justice League movie, opening November 17) plays Credence Barebone.  The name of Kim’s character has not been released yet, but she is supposed to be a Maledictus, “the carrier of a blood curse that destines her ultimately to transform into a beast.”

"The Crimes of Grindelwald" is the official name for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2."
