The new trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has freshly dropped this morning, and it goes above and beyond our expectations.
The new trailer carries the eye candy from the first one into a new perspective on the upcoming film, full of reveals that one would think would have been reserved for the screening of the film itself: a young Rebel named Jyn Erso, played by Felicity Jones, is separated from her father, then grows up to discover that his talents have been used to create what will become the dreaded Deathstar. All the Rebellion has going for it is hope.
The question of how Disney, the new custodian of the Star Wars saga, was going to make this into a personal story has been answered. In perhaps an unintended echo of modern times, hope itself is on the line, at every moment, at every turn. Delightfully, Darth Vader makes an appearance, striding out of the darkness and swirling mists. He will be a powerful, central figure in all this.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story stars Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen and Riz Ammed, and makes its big screen debut on December 16, 2016.
