On February 22, 2016 film director Zack Snyder tweeted a photo of him alongside actor Jason Momoa (“Aquaman”) in what is tagged as Leavesden Studios, England. Presumably, this is a workshop where the costumes to be worn by the heroes and villains of the upcoming Warner Brothers comic book film, Justice League – Part 1 are being created.
Among the notable items behind and around Snyder and Momoa are the Batman cowl, a Greek-looking helmet, a black suit of armor, concept art for Mera (long rumored to be in the film), the Aquaman suit and the Flash suit.
Zack Snyder and Warner Brothers recently confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that Justice League – Part 1 will officially begin filming April 11, 2016.
Justice League – Part 1 will release in theaters November 17, 2017. Directed by Zack Snyder, it is a follow-up to Batman v Superman – Dawn of Justice, also directed by Snyder; and Wonder Woman, directed by Patty Jenkins. Batman v Superman will release on March 25, 2016 and Wonder Woman will release on June 23, 2017.
The Justice League – Part 1 film will star Henry Cavill (“Superman”), Ben Affleck (“Batman”), Gal Gadot (“Wonder Woman”), Jason Momoa (“Aquaman”), Ezra Miller (“The Flash”), Ray Fisher (“Cyborg”) and Amy Adams (“Lois Lane”). Amber Heard is also rumored to be playing “Mera”, the powerful Queen of Atlantis and wife of Aquaman.
In the coming years, the heroes of the Justice League will star in their own solo adventure films. The Flash will release March 16, 2018; Aquaman will release July 27, 2018; Shazam will release April 5, 2019; Justice League – Part 2 will release June 14, 2019; Cyborg will release April 2, 2020 and Green Lantern Corps will release June 19, 2020. Batman is confirmed to make an appearance in Suicide Squad, which will release August 5, 2016.
This series of superhero films centering on characters in the DC Universe will put DC on par with Marvel, who has already had worldwide success with both solo and team movies. Not only is this great for DC fans, but the competition between the two studios will ensure high quality films for fans of both universes.
