We tipped you off in December of 2011 that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter was going to be making its debut in the Spring of 2016. We were so excited! And yet, five years is an awfully long time to wait for something like this. Guess what? Spring of 2016 is right around the corner. In fact, it’s getting so near that Universal is now sending out this delightful introductory video. They’ve recreated Hogsmeade and many of the shops from Diagon Alley, as well as a cornerstone restaurant called the Three Broomsticks – and so much more it’s hard not to squee over it.
There’s Olivander’s Wand Shop, Zonko’s Joke Shop, the Hog’s Head Pub, Honeyduke’s, an owl post where you can send a letter with an authentic Hogsmeade postmark, and of course Hogwarts Castle itself. There are even supposed to be house elves darting about, and they don’t show that in the video, so we have no idea how they plan to accomplish this. Still, it’s incredibly immersive, and more than just a few painted signs and tarmac between them. The whole place looks designed, stone by stone, to take you to an entirely other world: the Wizarding World.
And to think, all this came initially from one book. A book.
