Today Universal Pictures released the second global trailer for Jurassic World, the long awaited fourth installment in Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park film series. In the new film, we return once again to the theme so clearly expressed by Jeff Goldblum’s indelible line, “Yeah. Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could that they didn’t stop to think if they should.” Casting aside the obvious question “why don’t these people learn from their mistakes?” does give us the basis for a really fun two hour excuse for being kids again.
Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park (1993), Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. After 10 years of operation and visitor rates declining, in order to fulfill a corporate mandate, a new attraction is created to re-spark visitor’s interest, which backfires horribly.
Which just goes to show: if you don’t have it takes to run with the big dinosaurs, stay on the Jurassic Porch.
The new film from Legendary Pictures (the same company that owns The Nerdist) features Chris Pratt, Judy Grier and Ty Simpkins. It’s produced by Steven Spielberg, directed by Colin Treverrow, and is slated for release on June 15, 2015.
