Day two of Kraken Con was just as exciting as day one! After meeting Caitlin Glass and attending a Ouran High School Host Club event on Saturday, we were definitely ready for more epic pop culture events on Sunday. Caitlin had another signing, as did Matthew Mercer. The cool thing about smaller conventions is that you get to see voice actors and special guests roaming the vendors’ hall, chatting up attendees and having a great time. They aren’t swamped with adoring fans trying to get autographs all the time, so they’re able to enjoy themselves a lot more than just appearing for their signing and then leaving.
Some of the big panels of the day were Getting Started With Doctor Who, where newbies and the oldies talked about the beginnings and where to start watching the cult favorite BBC television show; Voice Acting in Video Games where video game voice actor Nicki Rapp talked about how to get into being a voice actor for video games, which was very similar in content to Caitlin Glass’s panel about anime voice acting; and finally, the biggest event of Sunday, the Attack on Titan Q&A panel. Matthew Mercer and Caitlin Glass both were panelists and answered fan questions about the series.
Another thing we love about small conventions is the welcoming and accepting atmosphere in regards to cosplayers. We saw a ton of really great costumes and inventive characters! Our favorites were the Dreamworks Pictures ‘Boy in the Moon,’ a giant terrifying Ferby, and, of course, lots of Naruto!
