It’s the 75th anniversary of Batman, and thus DC comics is having a Batman Day on Wednesday, 23rd July 2014 (tomorrow!) and along with Batman-themed activities, you can also get a free comic book.
Detective Comics #27 Special Edition is the book that will be given away (while stocks last) at participating outlets. The comic will reprint Batman’s very first adventure by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, “The Case of the Chemical Syndicate.” It also features a sneak preview of Brad Meltzer and Chip Kidd’s “reimagining” of the original comic, plus stories by Scott Snyder, Bryan Hitch and Sean Murphy.
DC Comics has given us a very handy locator for places that will be having a Batman Day celebration; it details locations in the United States and internationally. They are mostly comic book stores, but Barnes & Noble, Hastings, and Books A Million are also particpating, so you can go there too for your free comic on Wednesday.
If you miss the events on Wednesday, libraries around the United States will also be holding Batman events on Saturday, July 26th (and be giving out free comic books), and DC comics has also given a helpful interactive map for that too at the same site.
So watch out for that and have some Bat-fun at your nearest participating outlet.
