[krvod url=http://youtu.be/j_9ny7cqcPE#t=0] Never mind the teasers. Here’s the real deal. The new trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy from Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures is out, and you’re seeing it here first. While the first trailer introduced us to to the heroes one by one in a space police line-up (and made very clever use of Blue Suede’s cover of “Hooked On A Feeling”), the second trailer’s introductions are done by Star Lord himself, with a montage of the various heroes as he does so.

We get a glimpse of Glenn Close as Nova Prime, head of the Nova Corp (Marvel’s space police, like the Green Laterns in the DC universe). We hear Rocket talk, and we hear Groot say his famous line, “I am Groot”. We see a glimpse of the giant Celestial head in space which our heroes visit. We hear another song in the trailer (Spirit In The Sky by Norman Greenbaum) and we get another hilarious use of “Stuck On A Feeling” at the end of the trailer.

They are also running a Q&A session on the official Facebook page of the movie, with director James Gunn, actors Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel, Karen Gillen, Dave Bautista and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige participating. On being asked of the influences for this film, James Gunn replied that Magritte’s Empire of Light paintings inspired him, as well as space epics, westerns, and the comics, especially the ones by Abnett/Lanning. He took on the project because he loves raccoons (he owns a stuffed Rocket Raccoon), Marvel comics, and space opera. Kevin Feige hinted at easter eggs for Avengers 2 and 3, while Karen Gillen said Doctor Who prepared her for how to act on spaceships (plus, she had read the Infinity Gauntlet comic). Chris Pratt reports that he’s listened to Star Lord’s mixtape over and over and he both loves and hates it.

We can’t wait for it to be released. This might be the quirkiest Marvel movie yet. Oh yeah.

Guardians of the Galaxy stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper and Dave Bautista, and releases in 2D and 3D on August 1, 2014.
