We’re excited to announce that we’ll be airing our interview with Hugo award-winning science fiction author John Scalzi on The Event Horizon, this Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 9:00 p.m. PDT, replaying Sunday, March 16 at 4:00 p.m. PDT. He’s best known for his Old Man’s War series, three novels of which have been nominated for the Hugo Award, and for his novel, Redshirts, which won the 2013 Hugo Award for Best Novel. This is one of our best episodes yet, and it’s one you will not want to miss.
To celebrate, we’re giving away two copies of John Scalzi’s most recent novel, The Human Division, which has recently been released in paperback. It’s part of the Old Man’s War universe.
Scalzi says he swore he wouldn’t go back to that work unless he had something new to say, and, in The Human Division, he found the opportunity to do more with the characters of Harry Wilson and Hart Schmidt, and to add onto the body of work in a way he found satisfying. “Now I had this story that I wanted to tell, which was the possible collapse of the colonial union. But I had a new structure that I thought lent itself to that particular story. It would have been incredibly difficult to do this, to have serialized this in print.”
Thanks to the fine folks at Tor Books for providing us promotional copies of the book to share with our listeners and readers!
