Today’s offering comes from independent film production team The Continuum, in their work entitled So Dark. In it, a 200-year-old vampire-with-a-conscience has been arrested for murdering a pedophile on a Florida train. Now he’s in the clutches of the FBI’s clandestine task force that hunts, tortures, and kills the undead. Can he escape before sunrise? Watch and find out.
Vampires have been enjoying a renaissance in popular fiction and pop culture, in part due to a sort of anti-Twilight, anti-twinkle backlash. They’re becoming real monsters again, reminding us of our humanity and our own struggle to become better than our base instincts. This serves one of the major important functions of popular culture – to help remind us of who we are and where we fit into the world.
So Dark was written by James Williams, produced by Al Lougher & Keri Maletto, and directed by Al Lougher.
Producer Al Lougher is a British writer, director and photographer currently living in Miami and has produced and directed many music videos and short films as well as corporate videos and commercials. He’s currently working on getting a feature film version of So Dark made, and after seeing this short subject, we think it’s a grand idea.
