Three Rings for the Elven Kings, under the sky. Or on your burger, your choice.

Well, we had to try it, didn’t we?  The short form:  some delicious, some bewildering.

I had the Hobbit Hole Breakfast: “Two eggs fried right into the center of grilled Cheddar bun halves. Served with two strips of bacon and crispy hash browns topped with melted shredded Cheddar cheese and bacon.”  Traditional English toad-in-the-hole with a lot of cheesy goodness.  Also ordered a Shire Sausage on the side, which tastes much like standard American breakfast sausage but bigger and grilled like an English banger. That bun is good, and it also appears in other dishes such as …

Gene supped upon The Ring Burger: A hand-pressed burger topped with Pepper Jack cheese, bacon, sautéed mushrooms and mayo on a grilled Cheddar cheese bun. Crowned with three crispy onion rings and served with lettuce, tomato, red onions, pickles and a side of wavy-cut French fries. Dwarves and hobbits, dig in!  Well this was silly rebranding of a really good burger.  Three onions rings for the Elven kings?  And of course Mushroom for the Hobbits.  Gene did give it a thumbs-up and declared that Bombur would have dived right in.

Desserts:  we didn’t need rebranded milk shakes so we ordered:

The Lonely Mountain Treasure:  Our delicious Seed Cake French Toast cut into nine squares and served with a side of cream cheese icing for dipping. Perfect for sharing on your adventure.   Actual poppy seed cake, egg-battered and fried like French Toast.  In this dessert presentation, cut into bite sized cubes.  Don’t bother with the icing, this stuff holds up on its own.  Unlike…

Radagast’s Red Velvet Pancake Puppies®  Start off your First Breakfast, or Second Breakfast – with six bite-sized round red velvet Pancake Puppies® made with white chocolate chips and sprinkled with powdered sugar. Served with a side of cream cheese icing for dipping.   Honestly, the weakest item we ordered.  One would expect this taste and feel like Red Velvet Cake, but they were not sweet.  Apparently just pancake batter with red food coloring added.

I probably invoke the ire of our Collector contingent by opening the package of trading cards but here we go… two cards, out of a total of twelve designs.  I got Bilbo and Gandalf, plus a coupon for Free Pancake Puppies with purchase of an entrée.  Oh, goody.

Overall:  not sorry we tried it but not sure we will go back for much more.  Burger King had better collectables for Lord of the Rings – we still drink out of those glasses.
