Apple TV+ announces its new animated adventure trilogy, WondLa, from Skydance Animation. It’s based on Tony DiTerlizzi’s New York Times bestselling book series “The Search for WondLa.”

The story follows Eva, voiced by Jeanine Mason (from Roswell, New Mexico), a curious and spirited teenager who’s grown up in a high-tech underground bunker. Her robot caretaker, Muthr, is voiced by Emmy nominee Teri Hatcher (Desperate Housewives, Lois & Clark).

Everything changes for Eva on her 16th birthday when an attack forces her out of the bunker and onto the Earth’s surface. But it’s not the Earth we know—it’s now called Orbona, inhabited by aliens and covered in otherworldly flora, with no humans in sight.

Eva is joined by Otto, a lovable giant water bear with telepathic powers, voiced by Emmy Award winner Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond), and Rovender, a cantankerous alien with a troubled past, voiced by Gary Anthony Williams (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows). Together, they embark on a perilous journey to find other humans and discover Eva’s true destiny.

The cast also includes Chiké Okonkwo as Besteel, Orbona’s greatest hunter; D.C. Douglas (Sharknado 2, Black Ops) as Omnipod, a sentient handheld device given to every human at age six; and Emmy nominee Alan Tudyk (Resident Alien, Doom Patrol, Moana) as Cadmus Pryde, founder of Dynastes Corporation.

This epic trilogy kicks off with a thrilling seven-episode season. DiTerlizzi and Bobs Gannaway are executive producers, along with Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, Julie Kane-Ritsch, and Skydance Animation’s John Lasseter, David Ellison, and Dana Goldberg. Tony Cosanella also produces the series.

The last collaboration between Apple and Skydance Animation was the Apple Original Films animated feature, Luck.

Bobs Gannaway is the showrunner and executive producer for WondLa, with the seven-episode first season premiering globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, June 28.
